Who We Are

Village Laundry Services and its flagship brand, 'Chamak', are products of a disruptive innovation methodology of Innosight Ventures in late 2008. The idea behind VLS was to explore building a retail chain of small forms of laundry, that assures clean & hygienic washing, drying and ironing, which can be turned around within 24 hours to the customer.

 

Chamak started its retail journey with a network of small and compact portable kiosks (or rigs). These 8 by 4 ft. kiosks, designed by VLS and now patented across 7 countries, have all the components of a full-fledged Laundry Service.

The incubation was initiated in Bangalore and became extremely popular within 6 months of launch.

 

Understanding the scarcity of time of working professionals, and more particularly, women professionals, the company went ahead and developed a 'Home Service Module" under the brand of "Chamak Direct". Here, the services are coupled with pick-up and delivery. The entire experience is backed by state-of-the-art technology, based on mobile phones, web portals and mobile-based Point of Sale applications.

 

The company has stores currently operational in Mumbai and Bangalore.
